What type of mistakes did you make on your driving test in which you ended up passing on anyway? Also what mistakes did you make which you never usually did on your lessons which caused you to fail?

  1. the key to pass is try to talk rubish to the examiner go super slow like 27 mph and just keep moving your eyes and head even if your not looking at any thing just check all mirrors just really express the looking motions

  2. I failed my first test because i rolled back on a hill and stalled the car when i panicked. And that was only 15mins into the test so i had convinced myself i had failed it. At the end of the test, the roll back on hill was put down as a serious which is an automatic fail... i had only 5 minors in that test as well on things like wrong gear, etc...

I passed my 2nd test 3 months later by working on my hill starts and this was also with a new instructor as my old one said he wasnt going to be an instructor anymore so this kinda knocked my confidence as id have to find someone with a similar car which i did but a diesel version instead. At the end of the test you have to reverse park into a bay and i asked my instructor not to stand there and watch me, instead i could see her staring through the window! But i did it... only just though. I had 14 minors!!! One more and i would have failed.

The examiner counted several times to check, and he kept the tension by saying... "jenny...... you have...... passed" It was so slow but i cried at the end. I couldnt believe i had 14 minors, as most of them were things i had never done in lessons, apparantly i didnt check my mirrors enough, how the h**l can i keep looking in mirrors constantly when im concentrating on the road!

  3. I kept stalling the car which i've never done before.  I failed that test.  Second time round i went thru an amber light straight away so thought i'd failed.  that seemed to relax me then cause i figured i'd already screwed it up, then i passed :-)

  4. I passed my driving test first time, not without some stupid mistakes though!  I had the emergency stop manouvere, after which I accidentally started off again in 3rd gear, surprised that didn't fail me!  I was also told to take the 3rd exit on a roundabout, I'd been round it so many times though and I could have sworn that the third exit was a dead end and the instructor surely didn't want me to drive down there.... so I took the fourth exit instead and when asked by the instructor why I had done that I gave my reasoning and apologised profusely!  I can't explain why I did those things, must have been nerves.  When I'd first got in the car for my test my legs were shaking so much I didn't think i'd be able to drive!

  5. Good Evening,

I have not yet taken a practical driving test, nor a Mock.

There are several reasons why people fail.

    1. not leaving enough room

    2. lack of accuracy or attention to detail

    3. hesitating on junctions

    4. dealing with roundabouts incorrectly

    5. slowing other road vehicles down

    6. not driving at the speed limit, failing for too slow (stupid)

The instructor should conduct a mock test on you, usually a couple of weeks before the test. BSM will ask another instructor to do this. (I have a private instructor) The mock test will be similar to the real one, only more errors will be addressed. They will then tell you that you are ready to take the real one.

  6. I passed my driving test first time but I completely messed up my parallel parking - didnt go up the curb though. I always managed to do it ok in my lessons though.
