Question:

UK: Europhobia or Eurosceptism or Media Hype ?

In 1973, three countries joined the then European Economic Community, Denmark, Ireland and the UK.

Whereas Ireland is regarded as a model EU nation, the UK is hardly an active member and does nothing to promote better UK-EU relations.

Eurosceptics regard the EU as lacking in democratic process, overburdened with bureaucracy, and threatening to national sovereignty. Some of the UK's mainstream newspapers(The Daily Mail, The Sun, Daily Express, News of the World, The Daily Telegraph, The Times)—carry strong views sceptical of EU laws and policy. Some commentators argue that this coverage contributes greatly to eurosceptic views; others contend that it simply reflect the views of the readership.

Is it true that the Media Hype has helped to contribute to the negative oppinion most British have of the European Union ??

Should the EU withdraw the UK's membership and give EU membership to a nation that actually wants it ??

  1. the uk is too important to the functioning of the eu for it to  kick us out.   we are 1 of the few nations who contribute any great deal of money to it.   also they want our seat on the security council; there are many many more things that they want from us so they will keep there dirty little finger nails dug into us for years to come

however i would happily seperate from the dirty scroungers that make up the eu

  2. Balls to the poxy eu.

  3. I'm not concerned about the rest of Europe or WW 3 I'm concerned about me and mine, the country I was born and live in is England, the government of this country are not very good at running it to any degree of efficiency and as for the others they could not run a tap, so why would I want to belong to the EU, we don't need them I don't need them most of England don't won't or need them so as your epitaph suggests give our place to one of them poor country's that may benefit from membership

Doe's any one think that because we are an Independent country or Isles  that Europe will no longer trade or want to know us, I very much doubt that Europe would cut ties with us they know a good thing when they see it and if we stay in the EU they will exploit it.

  4. Could I just mention our trade deficit with the EU (Britain is in surplus with every continent except Europe), our budget contributions or the vitiation of our democracy, or mention the rude prosperity of Europe’s non-members, such as Switzerland and Norway, and the reply is usually along the lines of: “Xenophobe! Extremist! Anti-European!”.

  5. When you have Eurocorruption, along with Eurofascism and Eurodictatorship rearing it's ugly head from the capital of EuroLand, Brussels, is it any wonder we are so Eurosceptic?

If I wanted a European Facist Superstate led by an unelected Dictator then I would have move to the old USSR. In any case the EU superstate is eventually gonna have the same fate as the USSR.

"Is it true that the Media Hype has helped to contribute to the negative oppinion most British have of the European Union ??"

No, common sense shows us this, we do not need more corrupt scum bags with their noses in the trough, you don't need media hype to know this will happen.

"Should the EU withdraw the UK's membership and give EU membership to a nation that actually wants it ??"

Yes it should, give it to Israel, Turkey, Iraq or how about some African countries? thats what it is leading too anyway. It's steadily becoming a European occupation of Hitleresque preportions.

"It was founded to prevent WW3 from happening in Europe and dividing Europe again."

You're having a laugh, it all boils down to money and power. It's not about maintaining peace it's about competing with the US and other economic markets. It basically stems down to Capitalism, not peace.

"Surely the prospect of a peaceful Europe for your children is something to be desired"

Emotional scaremongering won't get you anywhere. Don't you think having an Soviet style Europe, a Police state with the constitutions of a Dictatorship is far more dangerous? than an "alleged" peaceful Europe. Arn't we peaceful now without being part of the Super State?

Who really benefits from this occupation? not you, not me, not my children, but the MEP's and the big businesses. Their the ones who will reap the rewards, the rich will get richer whilst the poorer will be forgotten about.

We all have our own problems with our politicians on the home front, do we really need to add hundreds more to the problem? a problem which we (the people) will end up footing the bill for.

  6. We should not hand over control of Britain to EU fatcats who have no regard for Britain and its heritage, we are the ones who end up shouldering all the immigrants that France gladly ships over to us, its time this country stood proud as one nation not being lumped in with the rest of Europe

  7. The UK press barons do not want a strong Euro that will threaten the dominance of the US dollar and that is why they constantly criticise Europe.  Europe itself plays into their hands by having a corrupt and dishonest image which it does nothing to counter, like the fact that the accounts have not been signed off for years and no-one cares.  The few who did finished up in prison!  It is possible that if Britain took a more active role in Europe, we might be able to root out the corruption but it's a Catch 22 position at the moment.  Personally I would like a strong united Europe.  As most wars are fought over market dominance, a common market is the most successful way of avoiding war.  I just don't want to be ripped off again.

  8. Europhobia is driven by those who have a financial interest in maintaining the UK as a vassal state of the USA.  In particular, Rupert Murdoch who controls the brains of a large chunk of the population.

The UK is not a viable proposition on its own.  Past success has been because we had an empire to milk.  That's gone.  We have the choice of being part of the USA or part of Europe.  So all those people who want a referendum, here's the question:

    1) Slave of America

    2) Influential part of Europe

Please mark X (if you can spell it)
