Question:

UK Fabric Catalogue/newspaper?

When I was a child, my mother used to get a black and white printed catalogue of discount fabrics. There were no photos of the fabric, just well-written descriptions of each fabric (that's how they cut costs)

Does anyone know what this company was called? Do they still exist?

  1. It might well have been Hartley's Mail Order, based in Colne in Lancastershire.  They went out of business a few years back.  There was also Croft Mill, who have also, alas, ceased trading (earlier this year).

    However, there is still hope for us dedicated fabric sniffers of the far flung corners of the UK!  The Remnant House took over Hartley's mailing list, and are a lovely company to deal with:
