UK GHD's in America?!?

Hi, I have a really really important question!! I am off to America on Friday, and I was wondering if you can get any sort of plug, wire or anything that will makes GHD's (hair straighteners) bought in the UK to work in America??? I know they dont work because I went to USA last year - i think they were too powerful or something?! Please answer - it will be very appreciated!!!! Thanks a lot!!

If you go to Boots in their travel accessories section they should have the adapter you need or you can pick one up in the shopping area of the airport.  

Edit:

The voltage in the US is different and I believe they also have a different arrangement for their plugs, they only have two pins where most UK & Republic of Ireland products have 3
