  1. £2.50 for every time you use the ATM

  2. See first answer (very well written)for charges relating to the Standard Bank Account.  For Plus or Premier customers there are no withdrawal charges, but qualify criteria for Premier Acounts and Monly subscription Fee with Plus.  (However with Plus it is quite easy to recoup this fee depending on how you run your account

  3. HSBC fees for withdrawing money abroad are going up tomorrow!

From tomorrow, HSBC customers will be charged a 2 per cent (minimum £1.75, maximum £5.00) transaction fee for withdrawing cash abroad. HSBC also adds a loading fee charge of 2.75 per cent for 'currency exchange' to every withdrawal made abroad. Local cash machine owners may also apply a charge.

    - Charges for withdrawing:

Total charge = 2 per cent (minimum £1.75, maximum £5.00) + 2.75 per cent + local cash machine charge

    £100: £2.00 + £2.75 + £0* = £4.75

    £250: £5.00 + £6.87 + £0* = £11.87

    £500: £5.00 + £13.75 + £0* = £18.75

    £750: £5.00 + £20.62 + £0* = £25.62

    £1,000: £5.00 + £27.50 + £0* = £32.50

*Assuming the local cash machine abroad won't charge you a fee for the withdrawal
