  1. prepare for a wake up call, i know a couple of folk on benefits and believe me, they are not living the highlife. one lady has just been evicted because of failure to keep up payments after 6 months. good luck with your interviews.

  2. You will find it a sad state of affairs hun trying to get on benefits - the fact that you have contributed all those years means nothing in this shithole of country!

The DSS will find out what sort of redundancy you have been paid and probably refuse to give you anything - they will tell you how long they think you should live on the money and even then you will be lucky to get a penny......

Sorry but if you where an immigrant they sort out your benefits before you even get here - thats the Great Britain we live in now

  3. Sorry to hear that you have been made redundant, if you have more than 8k worth of savings you will get zero from this government, not even a free filling at your dentist.

Speak to your mortgage provider and ask for a payment holiday they will normally do this, if they sasy no ask why not and esculate it as a complaint to stage 2 (they will know what stage 2 means)

    Good luck with the interviews

  4. u can get your self housing benefits

  5. There are mautre training programms that will send you on courses up to 5K

you should have payment protection for your mortgage which will pay your mortgage payments due to redundancy.

  6. Ahh, 'Having paid in for over 30 yrs' is where youve been going wrong. The way to get the maximum benefit was to have never worked a day in your life.

    Edit:

My point was that the benefit system in this country is only set up to finance the lowlifes who wont get a job and dont make any contribution. If you have a genuine need of financial support through no fault of your own you are made to jump through hoops to get what you are entitled to even though you have contributed to the system through paying taxes for x number of years.

Anyway, good luck with fiding a new job soon.

  7. Try a visit to the CSA they will be able to tell you what you can claim and how and where to claim it.

As for freezing your mortgage that would be a decision for your bank (which unless you have a mortgage that you can take a payment holiday from, will probably still want their money). It's possible you could claim housing benefit to help pay your mortgage but it might just be for rent?

If you are really struggling in the short term you could apply for a hard ship loan , but this is repayable.

Good luck with your job hunting -no matter what you have heard, unless you have kids, you are definitely better off in work!

  8. You need to claim housing benefit as well .

  9. What you need to know is that they'll turn anything down that you apply for - they EXPECT you to appeal.

Don't feel ashamed about asking for anything - it's the lazy ones who have no intention of looking for work who don't deserve help.

  10. Unfortunately you are about to find out that the tabloids are good at stories but not that good on the truth of the matter.

I hope you have insurance for your mortgage so that it is paid for you as your in for a rude awakening. Your mortgage is not paid for by the state until you are off work for 1 year. Then only the interest is paid!

The interest rate is decided by the state and may not cover your payments.

The only other payment you will get is Income Support, which will depend on your circumsances and savings.  Its about £2 per week. (Dont spend your redundancy money!!!!)

    good luck.

And don't despair, a rude awakening is there for the population as when jobs dry up - they dry up. Full stop!

  11. as a honest hard working individual i hope you do not have any savings.]

If you do you will get nothing.

  12. I'm pretty sure they can't freeze your mortgage but you can apply for help paying the interest but to do this you have to apply for income support
