  1. we did when we got our car 4 weeks ago.

  2. the only way it is possible is to book it in for a mot near your home ...that's the only way legally to drive it..the police don't like it but its the law and they cant do squat...but don't take the wee by driving it 100 miles and expect the police not to say anything...it has to be a mot station near to the car,and by law you have to drive it strait there and back,no detours...

  3. insurance is more important, make sure you have this and dont worry about the tax, if stopped say your going to tax next day etc, hope this helps

  4. Legally, no. If anything were to happen whilst you were driving home, you would not be covered, even if you had already arranged insurance. Your insurance is null and void if you don't have tax.. I remember buying a new wee Skoda and wanting to take it the half mile to my home. The wee car selling guy advised me to wait until I had all the relevant documents. My botty was making buttons whilst I was arranging all the correct stuff. Two days later, I drove my pride and joy home.. Make sure that you are totally covered before you get in your new motor. It will be worth it in the end.....

  5. Yes, you can. However... As soon as you have it home you'll have to park it on private property. Your 'driveway' basically. :)

  6. make sure you get a receipt for proof of purchase, then when you get it home park off road and sorn it till you can tax it

  7. If it's your first car, you might have to sort out some tax before you drive it. If it's your second car, just transfer the details over from your last car. If you feel you can get it home safely, get it home & park it til you get tax.

  8. you can but if police stop you then you are in trouble its a chance you take

  9. It should be MOT'd before you drive it on the road.  If you like the car when you look it over, then commit to buy it.  Go and get insurance on the car, you will recieve an insurance cerificate.  You need this and the MOT to tax the car, along with the details on the cars' V5 (log-book).

If you so much as park a car on the road, without tax or insurance, expect it to be crushed, that you will ALSO be fined, and have points applied to your licence.

The police are pushing for 100% compliance, every car, every driver, and are crushing the cars which offences are committed in.

  10. legally no but people do. however you may be unlucky and get stopped by police or on a camera.

legally your car unless new should always have an mot tax and insurance. be careful, and complete all the documentation carefully.
