UK Law- If i make my solicitor my power of attorney will he charge me fees for being my power of attorney..?

even if i am not declared incompetent? or would he only charge fees - other than paperwork fees of course- if i ever become declared incompetent? thanks

  1. Of course he will. A solicitor would never miss an opportunity to charge a fee.


  2. Yes, your solicitor will indeed charge you a fee when acting on your behalf with power of attorney.

    You can avoid this by simply appointing a family member or business partner to act on your behalf in certain matters, which you must stipulate in writing.

    Read everything several times, especially the small-print.  If you are not sure what something means, ask your solicitor or go to your local CAB - Citizens Advice Bureau for free legal advice etc.
