Question:

UK Law: Parking, neighbour restricting access to left hand side?

My drive is on the rhs and my neighbour's is on the lhs with a non-shared dropdown kerb. Neighbour's son's driving instructor has been parking across middle blocking both drives. Requested he clear my drive, verbal abuse, continues to allow pupil to do it. Made complaint to Driving School.

Now my neighbour has started parking astra estate on the road from the dividing boundary line across the width of the dropped kerb.

On our street parking is permitted on the pavement and all do this whilst leaving access for wheelchair users on the pavement and neighbour has been doing this as well as parking on their own drive.

Additionally they have started blocking the pavement by their visitors preventing my progress along in my wheelchair without going on the road.

So on an evening there may be 3 vehicles parked around the drive entrance unrelated to me. 1 to the right partly on the pavement, 1 directly ahead partly on the pavement and my neighbour's on the left completely on the road. This is making access very difficult.

The last time I approached them I was met by verbal abuse and feel that they are now unapproachable.

Any advice welcomed.

  1. Call the police clear case of obstruction, more so because you are wheelchair bound.

  2. if they are blocking your drive, thats obstruction. call the police.

  3. Try your local council, if no luck then ring the police they will go round to your neighbour and ask them to move their car as it is obstructing your driveway. We had a similar incident ourselves.

  4. Scratch their car with your wheelchair/car. Or get your friends to park their cars all the way round one night.

  5. i have a similar problem my neighbour

parking in the street  where i live is very difficult. my neighbour is the only person i know who can park his motorbike and take up 3 car parking spaces.

at night he points a security camera at his bike. the camera is in an upstairs room, so one day i phoned the police and told them that he was filming his neighbours in their bedrooms he had a visit from the police and now he parks his bike in his empty garage

  6. That's so annoying, I agree with the answer above maybe try the police. Also if you need wheelchair access I'd try calling the council and explaining the situation and ask maybe about some road markings and a disabled bay to be marked on the road. Sorry couldn't be of more help x x

  7. Contact the Police this is clearly obstruction. I have also had verbal abuse for asking people to move after they have parked across my driveway, most infuriating. I would also suggest you take some photos of the offending vehicles.
