Hi, just wondered, in the event of a nuclear war, does the UK have any missile defence systems, similar to the way that the US has the interceptor radar and missiles bases?

  1. Intercepting ICBM is virtually impossible at the present state of military technology.

US interceptors have managed to hit test warheads if the trajectory of target was precalculated, and no real decoys employed.

The only thing you can do about thermonuclear war - prevent it from starting.

  2. No they don't. That's why the US is building defense missile base in Poland. This missile defense base would provide protection to Europe.

  3. No, they do have early warning radars at RAF Fylingdales though, but no interceptors.
