Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any level crossings in the UK with traffic lights nearby, where the traffic light phasing can be changed to clear the railway tracks when there is a train approaching?? I know this happens in the USA but can't find any info on whether it happens in the UK. Need to know for a project I'm doing at work. PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks

  1. Some crossings have barriers and flashing lights, but some just have lights.

There are a number of accidents each year due to people trying to get across the road before the train arrives- stupid people can't wait a few minutes

  2. What normally happens is that a warning sound is played and barriers go down. Flashing lights are also often used. Cars and pedestrians are expected to wait at the barrier until they come up again.
