If you had to choose only one out of the two, would you rather your children were taught about evolution or creationism?

  1. Would I rather they were taught science or fairy stories?

    Science of course.

  2. Evolution because that's how it really happened.

I think the Old Testament should be taught, but only in RE and it should be pointed out that the story of creation is figurative. The original writers of the Bible knew this as to start with there were several versions of genesis told, including one where Adam and Eve were created at the same time.

It is just a representation of how the universe, life on earth and humans came to exist. This is how I was always taught, and I'm a devout Catholic who went to Catholic schools.

  3. Neither-keep the schools secular and let religion be taught at home. However keep the basics of ALL religions in RE.

  4. Think of it, evolution is when something forms from an existing thing, creation is brand new and original. If you're talking evolution, where would the very first atom to have been evolved have come from in the first place. There had to be a supernatural being to create that very first atom that was used as a base to evolve everything else. And if there was creation in the first instance, there will be creation all the way so, no, I did not evolve from some monkey - I was created.

  5. This is a funny (as in weird) question.

I live in England, which is a predominantly CoE country. To be openly religious in England is considered a little bit odd.

I cannot imagine anyone I know (however remotely) request that a religious creation story be taught anywhere other than a religious studies lesson.

The science lesson should only contain education about current scientific theories and their derivation.

This whole "debate" sounds absolutly potty to us.

  6. Evolution, creationism should not be taught in either religious or science classes, however since children will inevitably bump into this alternative theory it should at least be mentioned.
