I can't work it out....

Should I send them my old expired passport from June 2003?

It says on application form:

"You must send us all uncancelled passports with the application (say how many in the box). If the passports are lost or stolen, go to 3B."

Thanks.

  1. Yes, do send it back (recorded delivery) and they will simply mark it cancelled and send it back to you.

When using the post for official documents, it's always a good idea to take photocopies (so copy ALL the pages of your expired passport) just to be on the safe side.

  2. Yes. If you have any expired full UK passports or the defunct 1 year vistors passport, return them.

If you had one but do not have it to return, explain this on the form, supplying the numbers if possible, but don't worry about it, if you can't return an expired one it should not affect your application.

  3. Yes.  they will cancel it and then return it to you.  If you are renewing your passport because it is out of date, you need to send the old one, so that they know it is you!  Otherwise you have to get photos countersigned etc. as you do with a new application.

  4. Yes they will simply cancel it and send it back to you.
