What do you like to see in a pub ? Any ideas about how to bring business back ?

A older traditional pub, now sales have dropped dramatically. People thinking it's now closed - it's not. A new owner would struggle, so any ideas how to 'up' the sales etc......?

  1. Pool table, darts and karaoke are good to bring people in especially if you hold competitions and offer prizes... have promotional nights with the money punters spent for the pool table or hiring the dartboard.

Allow the pub to be rented out for occasions like weddings.

Keep a sign outside with prices and get an open sign!

    It might cost a bit...

Or even put an advert i your local paper!

    good luck.

Jukeboxes are good and you get a good profit.

  2. Nice fresh high vitamin drinks to go with the old vodka of course! Plenty of proper ice not manky stuff floating at the bottom of a dirty ice bucket! Well trained enthusiastic bar staff (not cheap rubbish labour) Good wine list not house wine or crappy Stowells Healthy fresh simple locally sourced menu, & decent bar snacks when kitchen is not open! And attract drinkers and spenders not people who just want tons of cheap food! Always have good champers chilled for any special occasion and put price lists where they can be seen! Good cocktail list a must! Have a request box for locals and any suggestions good or bad to keep improving pub all the time! Ex licensee talking who is staying in while husband in pub cos there are no healthy diet drinks there to go with my vodka!!!

  3. cheap stella and lots of tarts

  4. big TV playing music vids, disco lights and of course lots of alcohol

that wud do me a good nite out

  5. Not a gastro/style bar or faceless chain pub, but a slice of a real British life, where real people still drink, a Local.

  6. Small taditional pub? Cask ales!

Go big on your cask ales, providing your license allows you to get guest ales in. Traditional pub grub free when you take part in a pool/darts/dominoes knockout.

Get a big banner saying new owners or whatever your bound to get some interest.

    Thats a point I didn't think of...

If your pub is up north then go for the suggestions I mentioned above, if you a southerner then your going to have hit the wines and spirits some way. And hit them hard!

Unfortunately the pub trade is being killed by Mr Brown, and Mr Darling.
