If a road sign is pointing in the wrong direction is it legal.

I got out of my car and while walking away from the car I was looking out for parking ristriction, I saw and read 2 that did not apply to me so went about my bussiness.

But when I came back a parking attendant was putting a ticket on my car, he said there was a sign and pointed towards a road sign that had been turned around by some one and was facing the pavement and not the road

If the road sign was facing in the correct direction I would of seen it and not parked there.

Can the councils have road signs pointing in the wrong direction and enforce the related penalties

  2. Appeal this one , Got away with a similar one when the sign stating the times had being graffitied over

  3. Your only option is to photograph the offending sign and send it into the council with a letter of appeal. They must listen to all reasonable requests when there clearly was confusing signage!

  4. Take a photograph of the offending sign and you *may* have a defence. If you're a member of the AA or RAC, they'll give you legal advice for free.
