  1. FFS. They should be grateful that they've got a job. If they don't like the pay and conditions then get a different job, nobody's making them work there

  2. Because the man who has 10 directorships, and is on over a million pounds per year, told them £8 per week before tax is good enough for them.Same old story feed the workers crumbs while the bosses get the whole cake.Nothing changes.

  3. Postmen are lazy!

  4. I work for the Royal Mail, and we are not lazy, we dont get paid for striking, so we dont do it lightly or for nothing, each strike loses us money.

The reason behind the strikes is complex and most of the public are unaware of the true state of their postal service, the management want automation, so do the unions and the workers, but the management want to expand the business but at the same time getting rid of 40,000 workers, which even an imbecile can see wont work, they want large hubs across the country, which will mean there will be a lot fewer collections from post boxes, and even later deliveries to houses, plus your letter, even if its a local one could be sorted anywhere in the country, so you had better make sure the address is perfect, as there will be no local knowledge by the sorter to help you out.

The management also had a ten year, thats right ten years payment "holiday" on our pension plan, then Gordon Brown took one billion pounds from it, so now its got a huge deficit, while the Royal mail had their payment holiday, we were still paying for our pension, but now we are told we have to pay again, to help the deficit, when no one is telling us what happened to the millions that we have already paid.

We are also told of "bonus schemes" we already have these, and we are never told the targets, they say we dont reach, and when we did get one, last january, we didnt get actually paid for it till june, when the upper management ie Mr Leighton got a million pound bonus for two days work a week, we were expected to do nothing, the Royal Mail also spent 50,000 on a box at royal ascot, the week they told us they could not afford to give us a pay rise at the rate of inflation.

All in all these strikes are our way of saying we have had enough, they do nothing but take the pee, all we want is a inflation costed pay rise, the pension plan sorted out, and a decent say in the new business plan, not a lot to ask is it?

  5. hi i read with interest the answer given by the postal worker .. what a load of one sided c**p . we only get one delivery a day in the distant past it used to be twice a day , how dare you ask for more money to do half as much work .and try to hold the country to ransom it get it . i seem to remember the steel workers and the miners trying that many years ago , go ask them if it was worth it now that that they have no jobs to go back to.

and something else you should remember is that there has always been the  "haves and the have nots " in this world that is what makes the system work , and one other thing if you are not happy with the pay that you get for doing the job that YOU choose to do then change it  and stop whinging.

  6. Contact the CWU and ask them.

Or, visit their website and see for yourself : http://www.cwu.org/

  7. :O i didnt know they were on strike, will that affect the exam results coming out :|

  8. Royal Mail-got it sorted. I like it.

It is an industrial dispute. The management have a plan for the future. (Which usually means getting rid of people and making the rest do twice as much for almost the same money (Productivity) The union thinks it will be bad for their members. (Which means fewer members and a weaker union (Trade Union officials could lose their power- and job)

    Well, you did ask.

  9. Basically its over a payrise for postmen/women,they have been offered i believe 2.8% payrise.

But they want closer to 5% to be inline with inflation, but the fat cats won't budge so the strikes continue.

  10. Believe  me  postmen  are NOT  wanting to strike  but   there future  AND  the future  of the wonderful   UK  postal service  we enjoy  is at stake. Royal mail   want  to cut 1000,s  of jobs and slash  many services  which in turn  will affect  the service  you get today. Meanwhile  the guys  at the top of RM are getting huge bonuses  . Support  your  local postmen  and women  they  do a great job  in all weathers  all the want  is to save  a good service  from  being   torn apart  like  the the railways  were.  Need  i say more  look how  bad  the rail industry is  nowadays.  Protect  the postal service  it belongs to us all.
