Question:

UK ancestral visa dependants?

My friend is desperate to leave Zimbabwe with her family and come to the UK. One of her grandparents was born in the UK so she is trying to apply for a UK ancestral visa. The problem is the British Embassy is no longer active in Zimbabwe so it is very difficult for her to find out any information. Does anyone know if she can apply for her ancestral visa, come to the UK and save up enough money to send for her family or do they all have to apply and come to the UK together. Her husband (and 2 children) have no ties to the UK so would have to come in as Ancestral dependants. Do you know what application form they have to complete - is it the VAF2 or VAF4 ? (both children are under 18) Once you have the visa stamped into your passport - how long do you have before you need to be in the UK by? Is it 3 or 6 months? Thanks any help will be appreciated.....

  1. The link is to Home office in the UK. The link show what to do and to download the applications forms

Do I qualify for UK Ancestry?

You will qualify if you can show that:

        * you ARE a Commonwealth citizen

        * you are aged 17 or over

        * you have a grandparent who was born in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man (see note below)

        * you have a grandparent who was born in what is now the Republic of Ireland before 31 March 1922 (see note below)

        * you are able to work and intend to do so in the UK, and

        * you can support yourself and any dependants without needing any help from public funds.

Can my family join me in the UK?

Your husband, wife, civil partner or eligible partner and children under 18 years of age can join you in the UK if:

        * they have a visa for this purpose, and

        * you can support them without needing any help from public funds.

  2. Unfortunately for your friend the ancestral visa's are no longer given out to people who have British grandparents.....They changed that rule a few years ago and you can only get an ancestral visa if one or both of your PARENTS are British Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
