Question:

UK answers please re: Travel Insurance Claims?

I had to cancel a holiday a month ago due to having blackout and whacking my face on a glass table and subsequent bruising that occured. My doctors both said that I shouldn't have a problem getting the money back. I have put in a claim - what can I do if it is rejected? I know that insurance companies aren't willing to pay out for claims so is there anyone I can appeal to? Any advice would be great. Thank you :-)

  1. Good thing is you have your doc's back up on this so if they do dispute the medical side of things you shouldn't have any worries.

  2. WIth your doctor agreeing there shouldn't be a problem.

  3. you get about 80% refunded if it was a last minute cancel.

depends who your insurance is with too.

you can also buy cancellation cover...

  4. As has already been mentioned, you *should* be okay but to answer your question re. where to go and what to do in the event of difficulities, you could either appoint an Assessor to handle your claim or you could refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

The FOS is struggling with a massive backlog at the moment and anything seems to take months to deal with there, but they're cost-free. You can find them here:
