UK cost of car's first service? (Seat Ibiza)?

My car is due it's first service, having always had older cars (with no warranty) I have always serviced my own cars. How much does it cost to have it done at the garage? It has to be done at an approved Seat place or it invalidates the warranty (theiving buggers lol). I know how much it costs to service a car myself, but I want to know how much to expect to be robbed by the garage?! Thanks

  1. phone your local seat dealer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I find it strange that you buy a car with a dealer warranty ( the second and third year are provided by the dealer NOT the manufacturer) and then you do not wish to have it serviced by them. My second service on a SEAT Ibiza TDI FR was £162, hardly extortion. You take your chances when you let a non franchised garage service your car. IF for example your engine blows up and the oil filter is found to be other than SEAT, they will, rightly, refuse to carry out any work under warranty. Do you think the consequences are worth the saving ?

  3. Your car can be serviced anywhere, as long as the correct parts are used. And the book is stamped.

  4. May I just correct you on one point. The car does not have to be serviced by a Seat dealer. There was a change in the law a year or two back which makes that a restrictive practise. You can have it serviced at any garage provided the Seat service schedule is followed. Of course Seat won't be in a hurry to point that out to you.
