UK first class mail to NY?

I'm just a bit worried my parcel got lost in the mail system so I'll ask here if anyone else been through the same thing. I ordered a handbag from the UK and they sent it out last Monday morning (Aug 5th). The person said it takes a week and I wasn't sure if a week meant 5 days or all the 7 days. If it meant either it's been over a week. I'm just hoping it's just taking long and it's not lost. Any advice? thanks in advance.

Customs could slow things down and there could have been mishandling, so instead of first class, it was parcel post
