Question:

UK> attack of the Mutant Slugs???

Its been a horrible summer here in Wales. The only ones who appear to be enjoying it are the slugs.. In the last few days I have crossed my path with bone-chilling specimens of Gargantuous proportions which have left me wondering about whether the unusually wet summer is making them grow so big. Either that or nuclear fallout.

Whatever the cause, they'll have to "carpet bomb" Wales with salt to fight them off soon, if they keep growing like this. The monsters I have seen lately could cause a horse to rear.

Looking at from a more positive angle:

-Can we eat it?

-Can we make bio-fuel from it?

thank you

  1. LMAO! I know what you mean. You need to get yourself a couple of chickens. Mine love ripping the little evil slimers to shreds. Mwahahahahahaa!

  2. Frogs will be having a great time, so much food and they have not got a freezer to keep them in. Foxes will also be on a beano, they love the big juicy ones. The only thing you can make from them is an awful mess when you salt them or flatten them.

  3. Best study the different species first, as some only eat decaying matter & others seedlings.  The huge orange ones here in SA3* ** are not so bad as the little pink ones you can only just spot, as these love seedlings & the mutant orange ones prefer rotting stuff (have you buried Owen Money under the patio?)  I recon if you have only put down salt you may need some pepper before eating & biofuel maybe?  I recon you are best served by me saying "Use the mutants to train circus horses & well done to spot the opportunity in your own back garden".

  4. my daughter chose one as a pet last week, it was as big as my mans hand! she kissed and stroked it no matter what i did, you could actually see the blisters from salt. *shudder* ewww

  5. they are soooo disgusting

we use to have a lot of them when as was a kid.

since then the climate got so dry, that i havent seen one in 10 years atleast.

i live in eastern europe, by the way.

    ducks eat slugs, love them.

    get a duck!

  6. I dont think ive ever used as much salt as i have this year, the slugs are everywhere and they are huuuuggggeee, its like a freaking horror film in my garden sometimes, even sliming their way up the walls, doors, windows, shudder!!!!

  7. no their not edible and not a good additive for bio fuels

natural solutions to get ride of them 1)get a whole pile of egg shells place in a blender with water and grind up really fine then water the garden with the eggshell mixture the shards of eggshell will slice the slugs bottoms and kill them2)get a pie plate(aluminium ones)but 1/2 inch of beer in it and place in garden the slugs love the yeast and they drown in the beer save the rest of the beer for yourself to toast their demise
