UK - heard of a company called Bits & Pieces? I have their catalogue. Lovely gifts but is the company safe?

The company's website is bitsandpiecesuk.com - based in Manchester. I don't want to order and pay for items then find the company's unreliable.

If you are uncertain about a website there are two things to check, firstly type in "whois" in your search engine of choice, this will lead you to site where you can discover who has registered the domain name (in this case bitsandpiecesuk.com) and when it was registered. This will give some clues about longevity.

If the owner is a UK limited company you can have a look at some basic details at www.companieshouse.gov.uk - and if you want to spend a couple of ££s you can find out who the directors are and have a look at their accounts.

FWIW, I have done this for you, the domain was registered in 1999 and is owned by an American company - so it's not a UK limited company.
