  1. Its hard to sell my team to you right now, as they're in the finals, and everyone will start screaming that I'm a "bandwagon fan", though I've been a diehard Pen fan for over 15 years...thing is, I didn't always, nor will I ever, live on the hockey section of Y!A, so they'll cry about it.

First off, if you need any help understanding the rules and such, go to my profile and drop me an e-mail. =)

Anyway, the Pens have the best core of young talent in the league, and will for years to come. Crosby was just re-signed, and we'll definately sign Malkin, Fleury, and Staal long term. If they can find some way (whether a pay cut, or letting Malone go/ Roberts retire) to keep Hossa, they'll have one of the best wingersa in the league to add to the mix. The glaring weakness of my boys is defense, but we can worry about that this offseason, and fill other holes as free agents leave. Bottom line: Fleury is one of the top 5 goalies in the league, regardless of whether or not I'm a Penguins fan. He'll be great (already is, IMO), and this talent (and other young talent like Kennedy and Hall) is only going to improve...

And, for the last time people, learn to spell the name of the city...PittsburgH...with an H...how is that so hard?

  2. I came from England to become an eventual Red Wings fan.  There is ice hockey in the UK, and as well as following the NHL, you would have a lot of fun attending a live game - the sport is tiny, but it's there, so have a look for a major rink near you.  My home town team are the Nottingham Panthers.

Much as I'd prefer my Wings to win on home ice, I want them to nail it TONIGHT!  We're going to the Joe Louis to watch on the big 'Joe Vision' screen.  You will hear me shouting from where you are.

  3. As everyone before me said, no way will the Red Wings tank this game.  Pittsburgh already has a huge momentum boost from the triple OT win, if the Wings let game 6 slip away too they will be in big trouble.

Here is a video of former Flyers goalie Ron Hextall in action.

Maybe watching the coolest goaltender in history will make you decide to become a Flyers fan.  Note his goal scoring at the 2 minute mark of the video. No one had ever done that before him.

  4. Winning the Stanley Cup on home ice is a definite perk, but winning the Cup in as few games as possible is paramount. No team will ever throw a game during the Stanley Cup finals just so they can win it on home ice.

And pay no attention to guys talking about "bandwagoning". Root for whichever team you want, regardless of whatever reason you choose. Here's a list of all the NHL teams and their respective cities: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Ho...

  5. I'm a Dallas Stars fan and have been for years.  I've followed Mike Modano's career from the beginning and believe he is one of the greatest players of all time.

Right now I'm rooting for the Pens..............

    Game 6 will be exciting!

  6. Detroit needs to win it it tonight because if Pitt wins (and I hope they do), I think Fluery will be bulletproof in Game 7, and just the confidence surge might be enough to keep them alive and take it all.

As far as fandom, I like your idea about watching and seeing which team picks YOU. You have no choice, especially because you don't have a default hometeam, they team you like will choose itself for you.

I will, however, entice you to join me as a Sabres fan. Not only are they exciting (in both good and bad ways), but we're like no other fans....and we have cookies.

  7. The Wings want to win the CUP! Doesnt matter on which ice. Just win.

It is so hard to win a CUP, you dont CHOOSE which ice you do it on. You just do it!

  8. Well, you should remain nuetral, but then become a blackhawks fan. They have some great young talent and they will win the cup in a few years.

about detoit, i hope they lose, and then try to win it in game 7, but then not be able to

  9. Trust me, they want to win it tonight.  It would have been nice to win it in game five at the 'Joe but they wouldn't care if it happens in Pittsburg.

And for you future team?  The Red Wings, obviously! Just watch how they play and they'll sell themselves.

  10. If I understand you're quetion correctly, it would be crazy of Detroit to let Pittsburg win just so they could take the cup in Detroit. Aside from the Penguins being a good team, and that would be giving away the game 7 momentum, why would they want to give Pittsburg a fighting chance? Especially in the cup series.

As for your secondary question, I'm an Anaheim Ducks fan.

  11. This series has proven to be quite a surprise. I was sure I would be a closer match, but Detroit went up 3 games. Then I was sure they would finish the Pens off in four, but the Pens rallied to force a game six. At this point, I dont think anyone will be over confedent, actually I have noticed that over anyother American sport, hockey players seem to be among the most reserved. I think both teams with play their hardest and try to "put the puck in the net." (Such a steriotypical hockey quote) This wont be a dissapointing finish to the year.

As for a team, it demends on what you are into. If you want the old school hockey teams, go with the Bosten Bruins or the Philidelphia Flyers,  New York Rangers, or Detroid Redwings. If you want underdogs I would go with the San Jose Sharks, Washington Capitals, Pittsburg Penguins, or Chicago Blackhawks.

The truth is, I dont think any team will diappoint you. It really is a great sport.

  12. The Redwings are gonna lose tonight in Pittsburgh and then again in Detroit.

    Pens will raise the cup.

  13. There’s no way the Wings want to let this thing get to a game 7. That would be playing with fire. They want the cup and they’re going to do whatever it takes to win it tonight.

Now, on the subject of who you should cheer for in the future. I think you should come on board with the Dallas Stars. After all, Tom Hicks, the owner of the Dallas Stars also owns Liverpool FC.  Lol

  14. Detroit wants to close out tonight. They don't want to take a chance on a Game 7.

I "became" a Red Wings fan many years ago (pre SC years)because of the influx of European players and I enjoyed their style of play.

  15. There gonna need to go for the cup tonight because if Pitt wins this one they have all the momentum going into game 7.

imo it doesn't matter where you win the cup,a championship is a championship.

  16. Be a Flames fan
