  1. Contact the relevant companies and inform them of the move.

  2. Notify the Utilities of the dates you are leaving/moving in.

Take the readings yourself and keep them. These peopole live in Cloud Cuckoo Computer Land  and if anything goes wrong the poor sod at the end of the phone line can't cope with it  doesn't speak English and the supervisor is in a meeting/having a smoke/chatting up the girl/fella at the other end of the office at llunch or just can't be bothered taking the call

  3. Don't forget to take a reading yourself as soon as your able to when you move in, and thet the relevent companies know.  When your in you can then shop around to find if there is anything cheaper.

  4. Do a price comparison and see which provider and which of their plans is cheapest. Although keep in mind that prices are set to go up as much as 40% from what i have heard so maybe see what capped deals are being offered also.

When you are going to sign up to a supplier, see if you can get cashback on it.. sites like www.quidco.com are great for this and i have had loads of money back from just using it on my normal purchases, signing up to sky and gas and electricity, plus home insurance etc so it's worth getting something back for all these things to help pay for them. :-)

Water you will have to find out who supplies your water and then contact them with your details and make arrangements to pay them via direct debit etc.

  5. Go on to moneysupermarket.com and get quotes, make sure you read meters, dont rely on estimated readins and shop around!!!

  6. Phone your gas/elec companies and tell them of the moving date. They will arrange a man to come round and read your meters. Also tell them of your new address and again the meters should be read. Make sure you read them in your new house as there may be an existing outstanding bill. You don't want that !

  7. In your situation the simplest thing would be to just take over the existing supplier from the previous occupants - so ask them who their supplies are then ring the suppliers, tell them the date of changeover and they'll do the rest. You can always change supplier later on if you want.I'd also suggest you make a spreadsheet showing all the names and contact details of the companies and organisations you need to contact about your change of address - there are so many and you'll forget half of them - silly ones like the library and the vet and the DVLC and the doctor.

  8. Call each utility individually and tell them of your plans to start service.  Also the telephone/cable Co.  They will take it from there.  Plan to pay a deposit to each utility Co. if this is your first time to have service.

Call as soon as possible so there's no delay.

  9. if u dont have existin suppliers i would find out who are the utility companies for the house are then ring them to say ur movin into the property  on such and such a day then on day ring them again give gas and electric readings and then u should be set up then.
