  1. Do you like sunny weather?

Do you like clean aqua oceans?

Do you like laid back and easy to get along with people?

Do you like a Democratic government?

Do you like a multicultural society?

Do you like ... well just move to aus!

  2. I was in Australia in 2006,,for 7 weeks ,nice country,,but i missed england,,go for a holiday and see if you could live there for a long time .

  3. I think Australia is a gorgeous country because we have so much  diversity - bush, beach, rain forest, desert and big cities. I assume you'll be living in or near a city? If so, spiders and snakes are not a problem at all. It's only if your around the bush that they're a major issue. The people here are lovely and friendly and I'm sure the majority of us will give you a hand getting a life started here. There's plenty of jobs up for grabs and I know a lot of Aussies who love the English so you'll get off to a good start.

Even if you just live here for a few years then, once you've got enough sun to last a lifetime, move back to England it'll be worth it, in my opinion =]

  4. go to oz. get out of this awful country!

  5. That's precisely what you should do before air tickets go up in price any more.  It is an Aussie tradition to do the Grand Tour in Europe before settling down, and my Aussie nephew is in London with his fiancee right now.

I myself would love to settle there, but they won't have me now because I am too old.  My brother has lived near Adelaide for many years and raised his family there.  My father is buried there, and my mother spends half the year there.  I have been there four times now.

The people are laid back, friendly and eager to help and don't mess you about as they do in England.  They are very strongly egalitarian and refuse point blank to consider anyone inferior or superior human beings. They value informality and cheerful banter.  They have a very strong self-sufficiency ethic. They respect anyone who has a go, even at things they are no good at, and will never write anyone down as a loser if they mess things up.  Simply to have had a go will earn their respect.  They hate whingers, people who complain but do nothing about it. If bad things happen to you, just talk about it with a chuckle and make a joke about the important things at least are good.

Expats tend to gather in their little ghettos.  Ask any local where the £10 poms are and try to avoid them.

Spiders and snakes.  Yes plenty of them.  I was clearing out a water tank and one of the contractors casually flicked a redback off my beard, saying it'd probably have killed me, but I wasn't dead so he wasn't worried.  I also met a red-bellied black snake caught up in a net. The spider rescue man said it was only the 5th deadliest snake in Oz, and really was considered the golden retriever of snakes, a lovely docile creature, unlike the brown that can be a bit naughty.

But as long as you are sensible, tap out your boots and stamp while walking in the bush, there's little to worry about.

The health service is superb - streets ahead of the NHS.  Highly advanced and very knowledgeable. It's worth going to Oz just for the health care.  Basically if you have a sniffle, then you are seriously crook and they'll sort it out. After a few weeks, you take good health for granted, rather than being constantly under the weather as we are in the UK.

Distances take a bit of getting used to.  In England you see a signpost to the next village with a distance of a few miles.  There you can see a sign onto a side road to the next village, say Wagga-Wagga 352km.  The country is the size of Europe or the USA.

The beaches are wonderful.  Hundreds of miles of sandy sunny beaches, crystal clear seas and the odd hungry shark. Again talk to locals as to the best places to go and don't forget the sunblock.

Culturally it is mixed.  They have some excellent festivals, but amateur culture can be a bit thin on the ground - basically you do what you and your mates can arrange. The great cultural event is the Barbie, and you drink beer cold. Around Adelaide, the range of food is superb - every bit as good as England, and has come on a lot since the days all you could get was a Pukka meat pie.

The outback is a surprise.  You think that going into the desert is a strange way to have fun, but really the 360 degree sunsets, and the peace and calm of the place is an experience worth having.

Rather than go on any more, your best bet is to start up a correspondance with a few Aussies on Y!A and get some addresses, and some useful advice and things to see.  Then just go.  Budget about £1000 - £1500.  Food and housing and clothing are reasonably cheap, but bring electronic goods with you from the UK.  The most important piece of advice is never ever go anywhere in Australia without a bottle of water and a hat.

  6. It's not too far to fly to have a look if you are going to make a life changing decision on it. Australia is a beautiful country, I think it's far nicer than my native Britain but that's an opinion, and your opinion may be different. Go have a look and you will probably fall in love with the place!

  7. being a waiter can be stressing...it's not just fun and easy only u have to deal with customers stiffing you, giving you attitude, looking down on you

  8. we (uk) 're crowded enough as it is mate

  9. Australians your age tend to go to England to advance their careers or for a look around before they come home.  English people come to Australia for sun and lifestyle.  Your call.  What is important to you?

  10. At 24 years of age you should not be deciding where to live, as a final thing.

Come on down, spend a few years here, see if you like it, many Brits do.  Not that many end up going home!

Life is to be lived.  Live it.

The Cities in Australia are pretty normal places, no desert for miles :)

Not many spiders and snakes in suburbia either.

quote" There have been no deaths in Australia from a confirmed spider bite since 1979"

Personally I have been 20 years in Australia, and not even come across a snake.

  11. Come to Oz if you can get a work visa - it's a fantastic place to live and you'll love the weather.

Or, you could come on a 12 month working holiday (extendable to 2 years under some conditions) so you can have a really good look around and get to know the place.

Otherwise, I can't improve on Elmbeard's excellent answer.

  12. OZ! say hi to the scarecrow for me =]

ps. watch out for any wicked witches.

  13. Oz has amazing beaches. You can go skiing in the mountains near Canberra   or go snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef in their winter.  I spent 5 weeks there and never saw the outback. Get a years working visa and go.

You will be so near to other places too if you get bored but that would never happen.

New Zealand is a 3 hour flight away. Then there is the South Pacific Islands.

  14. Personally i like England.

  15. I would definitely give it a go as its something you may regret not doing some day!

I personally have never been to Australia, but it looks amazing and there is many opportunities to be had career wise.  I would give it a go anyway and see, its got to be better than the UK at the minute!

The flight time as far as I know from the UK is 24 hours but that would not be continuous, there is usually a stopover somewhere!

  16. Well I am going to be biased ans say Oz because the climate is a lot better here.Depending of what state you want to live in,the lifestyle is fairly good everywhere.Australia is beautiful naturally there are a lot of excellent beaches, mountains, then you get the dessert.
