  1. try your local post office as they are the best ones to be able to probably sign it for you

  2. They must of known you for at least 2 years and they need to be a UK resident to countersign

    Acceptable countersignatures:

    Accountant

    Airline Pilots

Articled clerk of a limited company

    Assurance agent of recognised company

    Bank/building society official

    Barrister

British Computer Society (BCS) - Professional grades which are Associate (AMBCS), Member (MBCS), Fellow (FBCS) (PN 25/2003)

    Travel agency (qualified)

Valuers and auctioneers (fellow and associate members of the incorporated society)

Warrant officers and Chief Petty Officers

Doctors are no longer listed even though they can countersign as a few years ago they were removed from the list to try and cut down the unneccassary paperwork  they were bombarded with

  3. Some people of 'standing' may offer to sign for you - for a small fee, say a solicitor/ doctor- even if they dot know you personally..

Things may have changed, but i was always lead to believe it had to be somone of standing who has personally known you for at least two years.

Maybe the first answer is right  and anyone working in a recognised proffession can sign , even if they dont know you lol!.

  4. the requirement is that the countersignaturery must have known you for at least 2 years, they may have only seen you say six times in this period, they are merely stating that the photograph is a true likeness.

It is also required that they are someone of standing in society, why not try one of your old teachers or lectures.

  5. Just ask someone like a next door neighbour to sign it.

Anyone who is NOT part of your family can sign.

    Hope this helped

  6. It doesn't have to be the doctor or dentist who treats you, and it doesn't have to be a teacher from your school. Is there anyone who has known you for long enough who is a doctor, dentist, teacher, solicitor, works for the civil service, local council or other government agency, or a policeman, fireman, nurse etc. etc..?  Here is the link for a full list of acceptable occupations.

    Hope this helps

  7. Firstly don't worry, all you need is someone to sign ur picture who has a reputable job it doesn't necessarily matter about the time you have known them

surely you know someone in full time work that is recognised by the government?

It is not really checked up n, it is just bureaucracy

  8. Read the rubrics, dear!  It doesn't have to be a professional person.  Any other UK passport holder can sign the application.

  9. You might be nowhere near your school or uni but they will still remember you. You can phone them and ask if someone can do it for you.

What about friends of your family? A doctor who has treated you in the past?
