Question

who thinks the stupid recycling scheme will get called off?...Today Ive seen bags of rubbish all over the place,mainly foxes and cats sorting thru it...and the three coloured type of wheelie bins blown over in the wind...and several heaps of fly tipped stuff...would It have been better to install every household with a mechanical garbage disposal unit?...and let the council sort it out into metal, plastic,paper etc...by machine?...

It will get called off if and when the councillors think, and the local members think, that it will cost them an election.

Agitate through local groups and raise awareness of it in your area. Street marches don't work, but the pollies thinking that everyone is sick of it and will vote them out if they don't fix it.

It is a mix of saving money and trying to get people to recycle. The latter is great and the scehme has worked in that respect,  but going from weekly collections to every two weeks AND shrinking bin size is too much.

I don't think it will get called off either. I think the recycling is a great idea and I don't have a problem with it in my neighborhood. Everyone is very neat and tidy. You will see a bin occasionally tipped over, but someone will turn it back up. I think it really depends on the village you live in as to how neat and clean it is. Of course, this could be because my husband and I are the youngest people in our community, but I never see a problem. I think it's a great thing for the environment. I was surprised when I saw how much of my rubbish could be recycled. I'm making a habit of taking my glass to the bins in town to recycle an am making my first trip today. So, I think it's a great idea.

No chance of it getting called off.  The government have recycling targets to meet, for the enviroment

More likely we will end up with at least 3 more recycling bins for other things

And the collectors will still complain that they don't take it because its the wrong sort of plastic.  or because its in a bag
