UK recession this year?

Can anyone raise any valid points as to why the UK's Economy is in such a state??? besides the government and Banks. The main point for me are the scrubbers which stay at home and scrub off state of which these people are able bodied and are able to work but choose not to and have kid after kid and use that as there career???
