I got hold of a second hand minidish and receiver and got my free-to-sat sky channels hooked up.

Is there anything worth watching via the other satellites up there? do i go for several dishes on the wall, multi LNB's or get myself motorised?

As far as dishes are concerned does size matter?

EDIT: I also just got an old 80cm dish, rustfree, but complete with antique LNB.

What would you do if you were in my shoes????

:)

  1. If you want English language channels, then Sky at 28.2 east, is the only one with a worthwhile choice. There are other satellites with free foreign channels; the easiest to receive being the ones close by; 19.2, 16, and 13 degrees east. The first web site below lists free (FTA) channels: you need to decide what you want to access. An 80cm. dish is OK for most usage, although it is better for southerly locations. 2 or 3  LNBs, fixed dish, with switching, is one option. If you want more, then a more expensive motorised system is required.

  2. The size of your dish depends upon the power of the satellite you are accepting signal from.  Most satellites push out enough signal power for small dishes now.
