Question:

UK student, want to study in America?

Im only in year 12 in the UK at the moment, doing my first year of A Levels.

I would really like to study in America, but Im trying to find the best way of doing it, as far as I can tell, the cheapest way is to do a year abroad with an exchange programme for a year. But I'd like to ideally study in America for longer than that. But I can't afford those massive fees.

Any advice on the best, most cost effective way of doing it?

I would like to study History or English if it matters, but Im not a genius, Im predicted C's for my AS year.. Thanks for any help.

  1. Why would you go to the US to study English & History, that doesn't make sense. For a start what better country to learn English than the country it originated. As for history, again there really isn't much history in the US, a few hundred years. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying an American University couldn't teach History, but you live in England, look at all the places you can visit for it's history. Then you are a stones throw from the rest of Europe with its history. Again, doesn't make sense.

  7. I would say...try france, u will like it more.

  8. You may want to apply as an exchange student first and then see what you can do about becoming a full time international student. The value of our money is so low at this point, it wouldn't be as expensive as you think. All your money you exchange will be worth so much more here than at home. Also remember that some areas are better to study than others. A city like Boston or New York will be expensive for living but there is public transportation. Other places like L.A don't have any type of reliable transportation. Lots of places here require that you have a car.

When I studied in London it was at an international school and my tuition at my home university transfered. It was very cost effective. Look a places like that and also schools with a large population of international students.

  9. Come to Canada
