Can I book a train ticket in advance, from say London to Birmingham..... at the station in Manchester?? Or does it not work like that?

  2. yes. just go into Machester Piccadilly, and tell the ticket person that you want to book the ticket from A to B for what ever date and they should do it!

  11. re booking on line - have you tried the Virgin Trains site? They provide the service from London to Birmingham and may be more accommodating over your Visa Electron than trainline.

  12. phone them up and ask about an apex ticket i think you get them on all lines. you have to book in advance but it works out cheaper

  13. yes, as long as the manned ticket booth is open, they can book you any journey.

  14. It is part of the agreement that all train companies sign up to that you can buy a 'walk up' ticket from any staion to any other station at any station.

    I work in a train ticket office in London, just last week I sold a ticket for Coventry to Liverpool, so it is the same everywhere else. The only things you acn't get are some of the 'internet only' tickets etc.

  16. yes you can go into any travel centre and there is a special queue for passengers who wish to book in advance and travel at a later date and they should they not accept Visa Electron (i know i have it and it can be a pain) then they will definitely accept cash.

  17. If you go to the ticket office in your local train station then you can prebook the tickets and pick them up on the day you want to travel.
