In Devon in UK, just want to establish if I build 6'6" high block wall, does it have to be built inside my boundary with next door, or can it be built with centre of wall on boundary line, and if it does not exceed legal height is planning required, thankyou.

  1. Well, I am a surveyor in the States so a lot of my background won't help you... but one element that causes a lot of issues here applies to your question.

If you build the wall ON the boundary line, then the part of it on 'the other side' belongs to the neighbor.  They can paint it, hang things on it, do whatever is legally allowed, because it is not YOUR wall.  If you are ok with this, fine,.. if not, build the wall on YOUR side of the line.

After that, the rest of your questions are best dealt with by the local building authority.
