UK webhosting?

Question

Is there any webhosting providers that offer the same kind of things gatorhost offer that is based in england? There would be a noticable difference if you hosted a server in american than in the Uk wouldnt you? Am just wanting to host my dads company website/my portfolio and another site but, for the price of gatorhost its amazing its just the location I dislike. advice would be extremely greatful. kind regards,

i use either rackspace or easyspace for hosting (depends on the size of sites etc) both located in UK, and never had many problems with either

I run quite a few web sites hosted in the US and there's no noticeable difference with ones from the UK. However, if you pay low prices, you'll probably get low performance, which will outweigh any other location/speed issues.

I've taken a look.

I use Fasthosts. Its marginally cheaper than Gator overall, and better in some ways but worse in others. It offers less web space, but unlimited bandwidth. It offers slightly different config for database and scripts. But it has great e-mail.

I host using Joomla without problems.

I also use UKReg for cheap domain registration, and it is run by the same company and well integrated. This means each domain I host costs only about 1p a day, with unlimited e-mail forwarding.
