  1. It is not anything to worry about.

Wear comfortable clothes and - particularly - comfortable and well fitting shoes.

If you need glasses or contacts for good distance vision make sure you have them with you.

The first 5 minutes are the worst - it is surprising how quickly it all becomes second nature.

By the way - I'd much rather be on the road with a slightly nervous learner driver than an over-confident one!

    Wishing you all the best.

  2. First lesson the instructor how to operate the car, and use the gears and clutch.

they will take you in a very quiet road so you get familiar with the gears and clutch

    you will be fine.

i was afraid on my fisrt lesson, but remember the instructor see's more things than you, as he is more experienced and will know what to look out for.

and remember they have a footbreak too, and they wont let you go crashing into anything.

  3. Usually in your first lesson you just learn about the car and then drive a little going into first and second gear, going round corners, stopping etc.  You'll be in somewhere quiet like an industrial estate, it's seriously nothing to worry about, they don't make you do anything scary until you're ready.

  4. Don't forget the Instructor will most likely have a dual control car, so you won't get into any problems.

  5. itll be preety boring at fisrt, they talk u through the car and safety etc before anything else, it drags on a bit!. just dont panic if u stall! every1 does it.

  6. It depends on the instructor. He/she will probs take you to an industrial estate and you will probs get to do first and second gear. doubt you'll go faster than 20mph

  7. Firstly, don't worry! You instructor should put you at complete ease. Remember that she/he has full control of the pedals of the car as well as you so she/he can help you at all times. If you feel uncomfortable with your instructor don't be afraid to try others. My first instructor was a dragon but my second was fantastic!

I would eat/ drink about an hour or more before the lesson so you have the chance to go to the toilet before your lesson. During the first lesson the instructor should go through 'cockpit drill',  where you adjust the seat to the right position from the pedals, adjust the mirrors so you can see out of the interior and wing mirrors, put your seat belt on and he/she will explain where your blind spots are. Also they will explain where all your controls are and what they do. You'll probably go to a really quiet road where you can relax and do everything slowly.

    Most of all ENJOY IT!

  8. Driving is great! Im learning at the moment and there arent really any tips as such, just remember to take your provisional license with you!

I just learnt about the car and the basics such as how to start and stop and how to use the gears, nothing difficult.

    Have fun!

  9. well if you have never driven a car then it will be tough

but your tutor will be used to it so dont be nervus as it will make it harder

  10. Make sure you go to the loo before you get in the car!!  Listen to everything your instructor has to say.  The first lesson is getting used to the car, learning the various bits involved in it going forward! like others have said you will be taken to a quiet road or industrial estate and drive round in circles basically and maybe some gear changes. Remember we have all been there,  and im sure you will not be the tearful mess I was!

    Good luck and drive safe!!

  11. no  need to be scared. Just relax before you go and enjoy it.

  12. avoid the pub.
