I don't even want to hear your opinion. Just tell me what happened.

No: "DON'T DO IT THEY'RE HORRRRRIBLLE!!!!" What's horrible to you isn't horrible to others.

  1. I've only traveled a couple of times this way.  It was not too bad at all.  It can be annoying in that you stop a lot, so it can take a while to get where you are going, unless you happen to get on an "express".  I would not advise against it.

  2. Angel, I haven't traveled by bus in years, but our daughter has.

Her fellow passengers tended to be poor. On most trips, somebody's courtesy toward others was always lacking--kids running around, loud music or talking--although the driver would intervene if it got really bad. This is just one or two passengers per trip, not the whole bus.

The seats were comfortable enough, and roomier than airplane seats, but they could have used a good steam-cleaning. The bathroom always smelled bad, either from cleaning products or from bio-odors.

She reports that using visible headphones and keeping her nose in a book increased the likelihood that people would just leave her alone.

Occasionally somebody sleazy would hit on her. She says that what worked for me in my youth still works--when a young woman is having a problem with a male passenger, the person who deals with it most effectively isn't the driver but any passenger in military clothing.

You can't beat the price, or the ability to actually see the countryside.
