What does Under Review mean on the Economic Stimulus Letter?

I received my letter on June 4th and our refund was supposed to be sent no later than June 6th. We are supposed to get a paper check. There was nothing different with our taxes this year, same as normal and we didn't owe. I did however notice that there was a section called Under Review on the back of the letter. Under that section this is what it said "Your stimulus payment has been delayed for review. If you do not receive your stimulus payment or a notice explaining the delay within 60 days, call us at ......."

Did anyone else get that notice on their letter? I don't understand why it would be under review. The letter we received from the IRS has the exact amount on it that we expected to get back so I am unsure what the deal is.

Mine stated the same thing.  I called the 800 number and they said my rebate was delayed because the amended return that I did had not been processed. They cannot issue my stimulus until they have issued my refund from the amended return.

I didn't however, the news where I live did report that 39 states are garnishing stimulus checks if the person owes taxes from any other year.

So, I don't know if that is your case...I would do as the letter says, if you have not recieved anything in 60 days, then I would call them and have them clarify the letter.

IRS is checking that you have filed all your tax returns from 2002 thru 2006, and since you have not received your refund chances are you missed filing a year.  Call IRS at the phone number listed on the letter or1-800-829-1040 or visit you local IRS office.

Mine did say that and when i got my check it was less 1400 for back taxes that I had already paid. We got it straightened out and are getting back but god knows when.

If you owe child support, taxes, government loan(student loans, etc they will take what you owe and give you difference if any.
