How do I link one to another folder lets say i have a folder /abc/link1 with a file link1.out and in another folder ab/link2 i want link1.out to be linked here. Sample of what ive seen is:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 abc prog 14 Apr 17 2007 cro.ini -> ../cro/cro.ini

As you can see from the sample above theres a "-> ../cro/cro.ini" in the right side which is linked???

  1. In the directory where you want the link to be created (ab/link2, in your case) type

    ln -s /abc/link1/link1.out link1.out

    this will create a link for you.  Note that the link doesn't have to have the same name as the actual file.  For more information, type

    man ln

    man is the system manual command, and can be your best friend....
