hi im a beginner to volleyball and just started to try upperhand serves from underhand.

everyone else gets the ball over the net, but i just cant!

i have the right position and my arm up... and try to hit the ball at my highest point but for some reason the ball wont go over the net.

is it because of my strength??

please tell me how i can fix it and if theres an easier way to serve the ball overhand. thank you:)

  1. i just finished my first season ever playing and i could not serve over hand til like the end of the season so just try putting your whole body into it and i hit it a little side arm and it goes over so try it. I'm not vary strong put by hitting it a little side arm it went over and it went over hard.

  2. Focus and really concentrate.  Become familar with the volleyball too.  But your whole body and mind into get the ball over the net. ALWAYS think that the ball will go over, NEVER be negative about it. Do your toss, bring back your arm, remember to arch your back, then bring your arm forward and make contact with the ball.  Talk to you coach about a serve called a "floater" or a serve that "floats".

I had the hardest time with the overhand until I was taught how to do a floater.

    Good-Luck.  :)

  3. I've been playing for just over a year, and I can serve overhand.  Try to put your whole body, not just your arm, into it, it HELPS.  Also, have someone you trust tell you what they think you could do better.  Another thing that makes it easier--remember that it takes time, hard work, devotion, and practice.  You'll get it at your own time, so it's ok.  If you don't think youre strong enough, try hitting it with the heel of your hand.  Hope this helps!
