Question:

UPS damage inspection... Refund Hanging in the balance?

Hi, I got an item from an online retailer, and am now in the process of getting it picked up, for hopefully a refund. The item is electronics and it had a scratch on the lid of it when I received it. The retailer is who filed the claim with UPS, so I'm hoping their will be no issues as far as them saying, it's not our problem or we did not damage it. Even though I clearly received it as such, and item is malfunctioning because of whatever happened to it to have caused this scratch. If anyone has any ideas of what goes into their inspection I would appreciate it. Also they must be inspecting it upon arrival at the returns dept. Because I was told to have it boxed, and ready for UPS to pickup. Thanks!!

  1. I have never had a problem with a UPS claim.  Usually, they want the box it came in to determine how the damage occurred (i.e. if it happened in their system they want to correct the problem or if the shipper packed it improperly, give instruction).  It does take a little while for them to process the claim, but have never had one denied.
