Question:

URGENT: Groomer nicked my pet, how do I confront them?

So I had my cat shaved yesterday and then last night before work, I was cuddling with her and noticed she had a HUGE nick!

I understand 1. my cat is moody 2. my cat is 19 and this was a scary experience 3. shaving a cat is scary for a human 4. accidents happen 5. she squirms 6. it is in the bend of her thigh/belly.. more on the leg, but obviously that would be an easy place to slip on with a squirmy kitty.

HOWEVER. I am NOT happy that they failed to tell me when I picked her up.

I would have been sad had they told me, but they kept it from me and I feel deceived.

I am about to call them and tell them that while I was mostly happy with their work, I feel this deception is unacceptable.

I only paid 35$ and personally that is not much, and I do not expect them to credit me 10$ or whatnot. That wasn't the deal, "get a discount if ya let us injure your baby!"

I probably wont upset them asking them to credit my credit card... and it certainly wont fix the problem.

I put my cat through this. I feel terrible and I believe this should be addressed with the proper people.

Tell me the conversation you would have with them. They open at 8am EST and I plan to call in the next 30 minutes.

  1. I would defininitly call so they know your unhappy. Maybe a newbie did your cat. customer service is there business. So bringing it to there attention is a good thing. You will feel better if they handle your concerns correctly. If you are not delt with correctly then never go back. I always tell business word of mouth is best advertisement and I have a big mouth. lol Good Luck, your right accidents happen but they should of told you.

  2. I have seen both sides of this. I have been the one who nicks the animals and the one that has the animal nicked. I would just gingerly call them and ask them how they think it should be treated. I dont think they MEANT to cut the kitty. that area on a kitty is  easy to cut. I know you are only thinking about kittys well being. Im sure kitty is more then over it now.She will heal with in the next week as far as the area goes i would just watch make sure it is not re opened with her cleaning or her playing.

IF you dont think you can be calm with them on the phone i would wait till you think you can. Remember... you want to be able to return there in the future and not be embarassed!

    Best of luck.

  3. You shaved your cat?

I didn't even know people did this. Why would you do that?

  4. I have shaved cats and never nicked on of them. It is easy for an inexperienced or rushed groomer to nick the cat in that area but they should have told you and apologised and even offered a free regroom next time.

Just call them and let the manager know what happened, they may not realise your cat was even nicked or the staff need to be educated more. If their attitude is poor take the cat somewhere else.
