Its for a science teacher i HATE and i dont understand any of it! Pleeease help!!

1)Why is the culture continually mixed?

2)What do the probes on a fermenter do?

3)a)Which conditions of the culture are kept constant? b) Explain why and how they are kept constant.

4)a) How is the fermenter sterilised before culture is added? b)what else must be sterilised? c) why is sterilisation needed?

5)a) Oxygen is added through the air inlet. Why is this done?

b)why is the air filtered first?

6)Why is the fermenter made of a metal that does not corrode?

7)a) Write down 3 useful substances that might be harvested from microorganisms grown in a fermenter.

b)Explain the advantages of using microorganisms for growing food products in this way.

  1. 10 points for 12 questions does not really qualify as "lots of points" -- you'll have better luck if you don't cram so many in to one. ;)
