My first hamster Fluffy is approximately 7 months old, and I've had him for six and a half months now.

He is the best of all my hamsters...I consider him as my bundle of Joy.

He was doing great last week...he was healthy and eating/drinking right.

But today, when I filled his food bowl, I noticed he looked underweight, so I picked him up. He has lost a lot of weight.

He is walking like a hunchback.

No, not wet tail. His poo is just normal and he's eating.drinking right.

I've cleaned his cage as well.

Sorry, it's summer time and the vet has gone away for holidays, and there is only one vet over here. The other one is at the opposite side of the country, and my dad won't take me there just for a tiny hamster.

I gave him some cucumber pieces today.

Any idea what has happened to him?

I really don't want to lose him.

He was the only one I had when I was lonely, emotionally broken down...and he helped me cheer up.

Please help.

I've raised him like my child, and don't wanna lose him.

  1. Give him some wholemeal bread soaked in full fat milk... replace it daily. Give him a slice of carrot, if he eats it by the next day Good News! Give him some uncooked oats. Stroke him alot. Brush him. :D

  2. http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Your-Sick-H...

I found this website. See if anything on there helps until the vet is back. Good luck.

  3. Try looking at this website http://www.hamsterific.com/IllnessGuide.... it has symptoms and the possible illness

  4. all right. Start by checking his teeth. I had a rat that's teeth were crooked and he walked the same way. He couldn't eat right. Yes, we didn't notice until later cuz' it got worse. Did Fluffy ever live with other hampsters? What food are you giving him? If he has pine wood bedding, that could be the problem. It's poisonous. Actually, if you have any kind of wood chip bedding, switch to recycled newspaper, I forget what it is called though. It's grey and all pet stores have it. Now check his fur, and look real close because they can be small. If he has little scabs, he has mites or fleas. Ask your vet for medicine for that if so. Watch him eat, and if he isn't, then put some yogurt in on a tupper ware lid. Try to feed him a lot of different kinds of food to get his weight up. Check your sources, pet stores sometimes have disseased animals and don't know it. Good luck!

  5. we had lots of hamsters over the years.  if you have several you may need to put your little hammy in a cage by himself with his own water and food.  Maybe he is  not getting enough. I dont know but I do know hamsters are sweet and enjoyable.  Maybe your hammy is throwing up. Anyway, put him by himself and watch and see how he eats, poops and sleeps.  Good luck

  6. ohh, that really sucks ;(( i'm sorry... the best thing I can think of for you to do is see if any of your friends will get you to a vet.  or maybe you can pay your dad to take you to the vet or tell him you;ll pay for the vet visit...    hope you get better answers then mine D:

    edit:

person below me :  I've heard of a litter called yesterdays news

  7. it could be that the hamster is stressed not being funny mabe u pesta it to much (handle it to much ) the huch is normal me think coz i have mice that do the same thing me not no y they just do if u that conserned then take it to a pet shop they may no what the problem is hope this helps

  8. AWWWWWW....i remember when my first hammy got sick it's okay... go to petco...they'll tell u whats wrong!!!

i got my first hamster at Rufus&Co.

he was a teddy bear & $20.00 the black bears were $23.00

    **DON'T READ IF UPSET (DOWN)**

***ONLY...PROBALLY NOT BUT IF U SO***:if you go to a different petstore (not petco or petsmart ect,.)  that breeds the hamsters sure the hammy will be more expensive but there the best hamsters!!!!!!!!

  9. I'm sorry, you'll just have to wait for the vet, and HOPE, HOPE, HOPE your hammy doesn't die. I'm so sorry. Oh, yes, do try calling the vet!

  10. umm.. .my hamster walked like hunchback too 4 weeks ago and she can't even walk properly.. What I did is we played and talked to her (my hammy) and my sister stretched her feet slowly and she helped her walk properly... and.... that's all..

But after 2 weeks when it happned, she died.. :(

Sorry if this will not be a help

  11. call a vet thats wat i did wen my pup was throwingg up, look in the internet for a fone# they''l answer all ur questionss. aww poor little hamsterrr=[

  12. Since u cant talk 2 a vet, talk 2 a petshop (where u got him?)

Handle him carefully, give him food variety, maybe he is overheating! if his cage is too hot turn on a fan. He also could be stressed if u recently moved, got a new pet, have had a schedule change. If you think he is stressed try 2 slowly adjust him 2 the change.

Ex. if he is stressed because now your home more and your schedule is different, try 2 get him used 2 your new/ lack of Schedule (although when ur sched. changes back the prob. may return)

I would also request searching pet ilnesses. Good luck and tell Fluffy to get better! :) I hope ur friend makes a full recovery and it was just something small that u may have overlooked.
