  1. light brown sugar = golden brown sugar

    (1C = 6 ounces)

    Substitutes: 2/3 C dark brown sugar + 1/3 C granulated sugar

    OR turbinado sugar

    dark brown sugar

    (1 C = 6 ounces)

    Substitutes:

    1 C light brown sugar + 1 tablespoon molasses

    OR 1 C granulated sugar + 2 tablespoons molasses

  2. you can use white sugar but taste is little bit different

  3. White sugar and molasses.

  4. it will affect cuz they taste differently but you can borrow some from your neighbor

  5. Use white sugar and ad in about a 1/4 cup of grahm cracker crumbs and some maple syrup. If you have mollases then use it instead of the maple syrup, or use both.

  6. Brown sugar and white sugar are the same thing, but brown sugar has a bit of molasses added.  Light brown sugar is 3.5% molasses while dark brown sugar is 6.5% molasses.

Just use white sugar cup for cup what it calls for brown sugar.  It will make very little difference in the final taste of the bread, although it will be a lighter color.

  7. white sugar will do.

1cup brown sugar equals half cup white sugar

  8. i tink maple syrup

  9. From Recipes.com:

    Brown sugar  1 cup, packed

1 cup white sugar plus 1/4 cup molasses and decrease the liquid in recipe by 1/4 cup

    OR 1 cup white sugar

OR 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar

  10. Brown sugar is white sugar with one teaspoon of molasses added to it.  Do you have some molasses, if so, just add them in separately as described.

If not, you can make spice bread with a very close approximation by using a teaspoon of honey and one cup of white sugar,

Or you can merely substitute 1 cup of white sugar for the brown, and add 1/8 tsp. more cinnamon.  That will up the cinnamony goodness of the bread, while covering for the carmelly brown sugar flavor that is missing.  You'll never notice the difference!

Good luck on your spice bread.

  11. You can use regular sugar...and if you have any molasses, you can add a couple teaspoons of that to it.

  12. use regular white sugar; it will do fine.

To mimic brown sugar, add about 1 tsp of molasses to the batter.  That's all brown sugar is: brown granulated sugar + a bit of molasses.
