URGENT! There's a virus on my computer!?

I think there's a virus on my computer! I have a picture of what it looks like below:

The window in the middle is part of the virus. And it looks like it's from a windows vista, and I don't have that.

What is this virus? It just popped up on my computer today. And what kind of CD should I use as a backup CD, so I don't lose my documents?

  1. In order to get rid of a virus completely, it is recommended to reinstall your operating system. This will make sure that it does not continue to lurk in your compter and/or reactivate later.

You should at least get a very good antivirus such as Norton, Mcafee, or ZoneAlarm and do a good scan and maybe it will delete it.

GET 90 DAYS! FREE!! NORTON 360 at this website.

here is a review of Norton 360 as well.

You can also try to restore your computer back to an earlier point via system restore.

  2. You have a nasty, but common infection. Here are the tools to get rid of it:

If your wallpaper has been changed (and you can't change it back).

If you have an infection that says something like “your computer is infected with 258 malware infections. Click here to download a cleaning tool”. DON'T download it! Use the Smitfraudfix tool instead:

(anti-spyware) (This first group will detect and remove the worst infections. The 2nd group will clean up the stragglers).

    Superantispyware

    Malwarebytes Rouge Remover

    Malwarebytes anti-malware

    Threatfire

    spyware doctor starter edition

  3. From the looks of your picture your desktop has been hijacked by the virus and wtih that popup it can't be anything good.  As for backing up your files any type of CD will do fine and it's a good idea to back them up as soon as possible.  Otherwise I'd try two steps to clear everything up:

    1) Pick the fixes from the following link that you want to fix.  First one I would say is "Change Desktop Background."

    2) Fully run this generic removal guide, it's very long but it's very indepth and should help you remove everything without a problem:

Well, good luck and safe surfing.

i recommend you storing your pictures, music, important documents onto an external harddrive, or if you have an ipod with a lot of memory then you can save it their by enabling "disk use" on itunes. Try to save the more important things first(if your limited on space) that you can not get back if your computer crashes for example a picture that u dont have saved anywhere else would be more important then a program because the picture you cant just go back and take it again but the software you can just go and redownload from the site you got it from/or install again from the cd you bought.

of if you do not own an external an ipod a large flashdrive, you can store on normal discs i would go with dvd discs if your computer has a dvd burner.

Good luck and if  you need more help feel free 2 email me or post on my site

  7. any CD u can use to back up your documents

    Download SuperAntiSpyware- http://www.superantispyware.com

    - Update and Scan

if it still comes back again turn off System Restore- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405

    and rescan the PC
