URGENT! VOTER REGISTRATION! 10pts to the best answer!?

Question

I want to set up a voter registration booth at my college campus the day after tomorrow. How do i do this? Where can i get forms and what procedure should i follow to get students registered? any other ideas as to how i set up some kind of political awareness/voter registration booth??? thanks!

i don't think we will be able to have a computer at the booth as we don't have electricity outlets nor anyone who is willing to let us borrow their laptop for the cause.

I doubt you will need a computer as I think all states require a written signature to register to vote. You can go to your local elections bureau office to get the forms required.

In most states you need to be sworn in as a deputy registrar of voters by the head of that city or county's election department. And that only comes after you have gone through a minimal training course in how to fill out a voter's registration form (sometimes called an affidavit). So, if you decide to "free lance" as it were, all of the certificates you get filled out would be null and void and all of those registrations could be challenged and thrown out.

I served as a deputy registrar of voters in my county for a few years, so I know.

However, this does not bar you from providing information on how to register to vote to those students. Most political parties are only too glad to provide you with free handouts and the like.

The easiest way would be to have a laptop. You can have students apply online at http://www.declareyourself.com/. If this event is taking place in the next two weeks, you will need a printer as well.

HOWEVER, the forms differ by state, and sometimes by county. If you are doing this on a college campus it is very likely you will have students from different state's that want to register in their home state.
