  1. does your dad have a British passport? British passport holders don't need a visa to travel to Europ. if your dad is from somewhere requires a visa to enter Italy, then you dad will have no choise but fill in an application form, pay application fee to obtain a visa, that shouldn't take that long, and normally quite easy if its a tourist visa, so do it now.

  2. dont worry

    go to the london embassy

and sing the italian anthem and just smile

and gow wings and fly out :)

  3. I'm afraid he does indeed have to apply in person, and by appointment.  They will not admit anyone without an appointment.

Looks like you're stuck, then, they have their rules and abide by them religiously.

  4. Hi Max.

Seeing as u r in a serious predicament, I would suggest that you call up the three consulate branches (http://www.amblondra.esteri.it/Ambasciat... and try to make an appointment as soon as possible (if u dont mind the drive). While you're at that, make sure that all the paper-work is ship-shape especially financial statements, insurance documents, & other related documents.

In addition to the above, call the aforementioned offices and speak to an advisor + email them in advance.

And finally, do not worry so much because it is highly likely that they will offer your father a visa. (Italy is a tourist hub).

    Rest assured,

& all the best in your endeavours ,

    Edgar

  5. If your father is an Indian citizen then yes, in order to enter Italy he need a Visa even if he lives in the UK and want to enter Italy for less than 90 days (I suppose he doesn't have a Schengen visa, right?); I'm sorry I don't think somebody could give you more help than the Italian Embassy or Consulate you visited yet

(durnobin, there actually is an Italian consulate in Manchester)

  6. I don't think Italy has two embassies in the UK so I am not sure where you have been to in London and Manchester.

If they were no help, what did they tell you? If they have refused to issue a visa they must have given a reason.

  7. Citizenship is always the determining factor for visa regulations.  Your father is an Indian citizen.  How long he has lived in England is totally irrelevant.  He has to make an appointment and appear in person to get his visa.  No visa, no go.
