  1. Hi;

    Congratulations on your engagement. I do hope and pray that all goes well for you both.

    Now as for your menu;

    Much of it depends on the climate, the time of day/night and so on, but I would do this if I were you....

    Serve a buffet type meal where everybody can help them selves and have the following;

    Shrimps in wide rimmed glasses for a starter. You can mix the shrimp with a bit of mayonnaise and stuff a lettuce leaf in the glass to look like a shell to make it look fancy...

    Main meal to be a choice of roast chicken or roast lamb, baby potatoes and veg of as many kinds s you wish, and one or two salads...

    Or;

    Main dish to be a selection of cold meats, like sliced cold ham, beef and so on served with s selection of salads, like potato salad, Greek Salad, and a mixed salad, and fresh bread rolls.......

    Your choice of food will be dependant on the weather and the time of day.....

    As pudding choose from ice cream, and jelly with wafer biscuits

    Or

    A hot sponge pudding with custard.

    Again much depends on the weather....

    Have fun though.

  2. Try a selection of cheese on a tray served in-between cherry tomatoes on the vine they look great!! Cocktail pickles and gherkins, celery, fill half avocado slices with a mixture of  prawn cocktail, ( boil up the baby prawns and mix either seafood mayo or make your own with tomato sauce and mayo) cut blocks of feta cheese, uncooked baby corn,  have a  crackers selection with pates and dips, sweet chili dipping sauce, try hommous , then as  hot food serve spicy sticky chicken wings or drumsticks, mini sausage rolls mini samoosa's... cheese and ham balls or spinach and feta balls, mini sausages. You can also have a pasta salad to go with the meats as well as  mini pizza slices.  As a sweet selection, vanilla ice cream, meringues and profiteroles  with chocolate sauce! Most of your work is done before hand and laid out on the tables except for the hot foods which can be made before and left warming in an oven to be served when all guests have arrived. People help themselves and can choose a varity of foods to eat from.

  5. Congratulations have a wonderful future together.I am a scottish grannie and the advice I would give you for your Buffet Party is make it as easy and relaxed for yourself as you want to enjoy the celebration and that is what your friends and family are there for to share with you not the food.buy what you can afford, plenty of nibbles lots of salads cold meats , selection of cheeses, crackers, bowls of rice that you can add tomatoes  frozen sweetcorn and peas to or anything you like.same as pasta cook it then add to it , keep everything cold so you are not up and down running after everyone.Dishes of king prawns, Pasta rice etc.,  .Lots of nice bread in baskets.Then a couple of defrosted Cakes or cheesecake or Pavlova, and lots and lots of Pink cava , under £4 a bottle at Tesco or asda.Enjoy and relax.Vegetarians will be happy with pasta rice cheese , also buy hummos or dips, serve with carrot sticks peppers etc.,
