  1. if you have had the tortiose for any amount of time you should know what it is if not and you found it put it back

  2. looks like a  Russian tortoise,  here is a care sheet on it http://www.russiantortoise.org/care_shee... here is also a site that will help you identify what type of tortoise you have  http://www.tortoisetrust.org/ it is not a herman as they only have 4 claws on each foot but it could be a greek tortoise hard to tell from the angle of the picture best of luck with the move hope it all goes well

  3. It's hard to tell from the picture....where did you get him from?  How long have you had him?  Basic care for most tortoises include large cages or tortoise tables (the larger the better), safe substrate for the bottom, a place to hide in, heat basking bulbs with correct temperature, and UVB lighting made for reptiles.  They also need a water bowl and some need to be able to soak in the bowl.  They need dark leafy greens and a variety of vegies and fruits.  Tortoise pellets can be sprinkled on top.  They should also have a good reptile calcium supplement added to the food, as well as a multi-vitamin once a week.   Helpful links include:

  4. it might be  African Spurred Tortoise

  5. this is not a box turtle, those only live in USA

you should tell us where you found the turtle and that would help us determine what kind it is and what it's needs are

  6. It is a common box turtle.  I used to have one for a pet.  Buy some turtle food and give him lettuce.  Put him in a tank with a little water and some rocks to climb on.

  7. It looks like a boxer turtle

  8. it's definitely an

EASTERN BOX TURTLE (another name is the common box turtle)

they need a basking light and a dish with water that's really shallow but keep water in it at all times... also they like hollow logs or something to hide under... as for bedding some kind of wood substrate is best... kind of like soft mulch... i think they have it at petsmart... also they like lettuce, but kale is better for them... like a mix of lettuce and kale,.... dont use iceberg lettuce tho...

  9. It is not a Box Turtle. Here are photos of Eastern Box Turtles: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_o...

Notice that the shell shape, especially the flare at the marginals (bottom edge) does not match. The color pattern does not match, the head shape and pattern does not match, the kind of feet do not match, etc.

It is not a Sulcata (thankfully for you and it)- Sulcata scales on the shell (scutes on the carapace) are light centered surrounded by dark.

This is a Greek or Eastern Hermann's Tortoise- photos at http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_o... where you can see many tortoises and box turtles side by side.

You can find great care info for both species at http://www.tortoisetrust.org or http://www.tortoise.org

It is a Greek or Hermann's Tortoise

  10. it looks like a hermans tortoise or a Greek tortoise its diffidently not a box turtle
