US Beach Junior tour scheduled to start in April – Volleyball news
The USA Volleyball (USAV) has recently announced the schedule of 2012 US Beach Junior Tour.
The junior tour will be opened with first event in Aloha State, Hawaii. The Aloha Open will take centre stage on April 21 and it will be followed by 25 events of the same kind in the running season.
Aspiring beach volleyball tandems from 17 states of America will hit the sandy courts during these 26 events of the Junior Beach Tour. Players of both genders will take part in the competitions, which will span over 11 weekends. The last event of the Junior
Beach Tour will be held in August.
The 2012 edition of the USA Beach Junior Tour is going to be the largest national beach volleyball tour ever. A total of 21 different USA Volleyball regions are participating in this year’s tour.
In 2011, the US Junior Beach Tour involved 18 regions and 17 states, while 25 events were covered in the previous edition of tour. The Aloha Open in Waikiki, Hawaii, Lone Star Open in Austin, Texas, Gulf Coast Open in Pensacola, Florida, Rocky Mountain Open
in Aurora, Colorado, and East Coast Open in Hampton, N.H. are the new events added to the 2012 U.S. Junior Beach Tour.
The tour director, Rick Schanz of the Elevation Group, expressed delight that the number of events increased this year.
He stated, “We had a great response to the championship bids in 2011 with 115 teams accepting and playing in the open division championships. We had a total of 200 teams playing in the bid and national divisions at the 2011event, making it the largest ever
USA Beach Junior Tour Championship to date. We anticipate even greater representation and tougher competition in 2012 with the growth and start of the NCAA sand game.”
The 2012 Beach tour will feature no co-ed teams but the separate teams of boys and girls of ages 10-18 will play the matches. The USA Volleyball will also launch the system of Beach Junior Rankings this year, which will help the players to keep track of
their progress against players and teams from around the country. This is the new exciting feature in the Junior Beach Tour that will be debuted on April 1.
The primary purpose of the launch of Ranking System is to encourage the young boys and girls to aim for Olympics. The Beach Junior Rankings will surely enhance the interest of players in the game.
The registration for the U.S. Beach Tour will be opened on March 15. The USAV is hopeful that the 2012 U.S. Beach Tour will attract plenty of good players from all over the U.S. and it will bring a lot of success.
