US Citizen college in Canada?

I live in CA and I am a senior in high school and I am thinking of going to a school in Canada (probably near Vancouver.) I know I need to get an alien card or dual citizenship but I'd like to know the differences of going to a college in the US then going to a college in Canada. And can you transfer from a canadian school to a US school?

  1. Immigration issues aside (you could get a student visa instead of needing to get dual citizenship or an alien card), you'd probably end up paying more money to go to school in Canada. If you stayed in the US, you could get in-state tuition if you went to a CSU or UC school. SOME schools will accept certain credits from Canadian schools, but not all. You'd have to check with the school. My college, for example, will accept general education credits for classes that we know (like ENGL 101), but not for major classes (like British Lit). But all schools have their own guidelines. It's unclear why you'd want to go to school in Canada simply to go to school there without having a real reason.
